A Bold Little Bird...

Updated: May 5

Today was gorgeous! I mean, it was so beautiful that it was the kind of day when working outside just is the right thing to do...and so I worked outside. Got the garden going, although, honestly, most of it is currently poison ivy...I don't get that. Every spring I get a case of poison ivy. This year it hasn't happened yet. We've had like a week or two of good weather and going out there yesterday and today I was surprised that I didn't get all itchy and break out. I think I have figured out that a major part of my garden is going to be devoted to the brambles of raspberries and blackberries.

There is a section where I planted raspberries, honeyberries, asparagus, strawberries, and actually, more. This year I am removing them to give them a better place to spread. This year, I love my front yard. My husband made some beautiful wooden raised beds for me.

It is funny how animals work. A few weeks ago, the big birdfeeder hanging in the picture of the raised bed got a woodpecker stuck inside because it has little windows. The animals destroyed one of the windows and there was still food inside, so the resourceful woodpecker decided to get some seeds. It got stuck and was panicking because it didn't know how to get out. So, I let it out. Ever since, its become very bold. The woodpecker now goes in and out of the birdfeeder because it knows it can get in and out of the feeder easily. It also does not mind when I walk past if I give it enough space, unlike other birds that fly away the instant they see me. So, I have become the "safe" human. I kind of like it too!
