Welcome to Pilgrim Botanist

The Pilgrim Botanist started as a blog online in 2024 and is a dream that has existed since 2018, when we (Corrie and John) realized that we wanted a homestead (farm). At that point, I started working towards it by gaining the skills I needed to run one if I ever got ahold of it. As a result, I have skills when it comes to yogurt, jams and jellies, butter-making, cheesemaking, multiple ways of making soaps, creams, and scrubs. I also make extracts of different types and I am excellent at taking care of and propagating many types of plants. 

More recently, I came to realize that a farm is an incredibly complex and large responsibility as well as expensive. My husband, of course, realized this sooner...but now, as a response, I have scaled down the goal to a much smaller, more manageable one. Instead, Corrie is just gonna have a whole bunch of hobbies and worry about the farm part once the kids graduate from high school.
